- “Look, ______!” You heard your boyfriend, Antonio, say as you dried a plate you had just washed from your lunch. “The snow is falling again.” He turned back to the window of the cabin you two had rented for the holiday weekend while you made your way over to his side looking.
- “It is.” You smiled as your (e/c) eyes glittered with glee. “Do you want to go for a walk?” You asked as he nodded. You walked into the main room of the cabin where the pine scent from the Christmas tree you and Antonio had put up and decorated got stronger. You smiled looking at the (favorite color lights to use on a Christmas tree) lights as they shown bright. You always loved this time of year and how it made you feel. The smells and songs always took you away for a bit while you basked in the delight they brought you. You felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist that brought you back from your mini day dream.
- “Are you going to go like that, mi amor [my love]?” He asked setting his chin on your shoulder already having his winter coat on.
- “Let me get my coat and we can go.” You smiled looking into his olive green eyes as you walked towards the door taking your (favorite color) winter coat sliding it over your arms and zipping it up before putting your (second favorite color) scarf around your neck. You turned looking at your boyfriend smiling. “Alright I’m ready now.” You giggled grabbing your camera from the side table before you left the cabin into the snow.
- The freshly fallen snow crunched under your feet as you walked the trails in the woods taking pictures of the different things that caught your eye. Antonio watched you as he tossed a tomato into the sir and catching it before taking a bite.
- “Where did you get that?” You asked not remembering his holding it moments before.
- “I took a couple before we left the cabin.” He told you taking a small baggy out of his pocket with another on in it. “Want one?”
- “Not right now, thanks.” You giggled as he shrugged putting it back in his pocket. You both walked along before coming to the part of the path that split into two parts. You looked at the paths trying to decide which to take. You looked back at Antonio, who had finished the tomato, for his opinion. “What do you think?”
- “You pick.” He told you hugging you from behind.
- “Well that path goes farther up into the woods,” you said looking at the path to the left. “but this path goes alongside the frozen river and I could get some pretty pictures there.”
- “Sounds good to me.” Antonio smiled holding your hand while you both walked the path overlooking the frozen lake.
- The sun was close to setting for the night as the light danced on the ice that covered the lake. “Oh Antonio look.” You said seeing the site. “I need to take a picture.” You let go of his hand as you got closer to the ledge that lead to a three foot drop to the ice.
- “Please don’t fall, ______.” Antonio told you seeing you taking the picture. “I don’t know how thick the ice is.”
- “I won’t fall in.” You told him trying to get a couple more pictures.
- Antonio stood back when he heard a couple cracking sounds. He looked behind him seeing nothing but looked up to see a branch holding its limit weight in snow. “______!” He called out tackling you before the branch broke falling where you were just standing.
- You sat up sitting in the snow looking at the thick branch that had fallen with Antonio underneath it. “Antonio!” You cried getting up and using all the strength you could get lifting the branch up and pulling it to the side away from Antonio. You dropped by his side as he weakly flipped over to his back. Your hand flew to your mouth as he groaned in pain. “Antonio, are you alright?” You mentally yelled at yourself for asking the stupidest question you could think of. You just heard him groan in pain of course he isn’t alright.
- “Si, mi amor.” He smiled as you knew it wasn’t his real smile but a fake to cover up the pain. “How about you?”
- “Me?” You looked at him trying with everything you had to hold back your tears. “I’m not the one that just got dog piled by a branch.” You looked at him not knowing what you needed to do. “Can you move?”
- He nodded as he slowly started to sit up. You knew he was hiding his pain as you helped him to his feet trying to cause him as little pain that you possibly could. You had him leaning on you as the two of you made your way back to the cabin. You sat him on the couch as he groaned in pain. You sat beside him and looked at him as your heart ached. You must have not held back your tears because you felt the salty drops slide down your cheeks.
- “______, why the tears?” He asked as you felt his hand reach up and wipe the tears from your cheek.
- “It’s my fault you got hurt.” You said not even trying to keep the tears back anymore. “I’m the one that wanted to go for the walk. I’m the one who choose to go down that path and I’m the one that wanted to stop to take pictures standing where I shouldn’t have been.” Your tears dripped off your cheeks onto your hands that sat in your lap. “I’m so sorry, Antonio.”
- “Shhh, mi amor, none of this was your fault.” He wiped more of your tears away. “You might have done those things but I was the one that chose to get in the way. I rather be the one in this pain than see a scratch on you,” He reached down holding your hand. “and if this would happen again no matter if it was five minutes from now or a life time I would do it again to keep you from harm.” The tears in your eyes peeked over your lids as you threw your arms around Antonio’s neck hugging him. “Te amo [I love you], ______.”
- “I love you too.” You smiled through your tears when you felt something wet on your hip. “What the?” you looked down touching your side and looked at your hand. You reached into Antonio’s pocket pulling the now squashed tomato that he had in his pocket. You both looked at it as you both let out a laugh before you both leaned in sharing a passionate kiss.

"Every single little bit."
You sighed, leaning against one of the wooden beams that supported your canopy bed. You rolled your (e/c) orbs at the girl, growing wary of her constant pestering. You tied up your hair in a high ponytail, accessorizing with a white bow at the hairband.
"I've told you already, Lily, all we did was eat breakfast together." you said in a tone as if you were addressing a child. Lily scoffed, crossing her arms. "Bullshit. Something went down in that room."
Lily rose from the leather

Chapter 4
You squinted up at the white ceiling, some sunlight seeping through the wooden blinds of your window. You sat up, rubbing your eyes, your hand searching blindly for your glasses on the bedside stand.
You slid them on, pushing the duvet covers away as your feet came in contact with the cold, hard, dark cherry hardwood floors. Your feet made quiet sounds as you walked towards the window.
You tilted a single blind up, seeing a sliver of the Italian countryside.
You were correct about your previous assumption of the Vargases--they definitely were wealthy. You pondered more about your thought as you t
