Literature Text

You walked into you home after Arthur walked you to your house. He was going to just run across the street in the rain but you decided to let him take your umbrella. It wasn’t like you didn’t have a couple and you weren’t going to see him again.

“Enjoy your time?” You heard as you looked up seeing Mocha sitting on the couch reading a book.

“I did.” You told her as you walked closer to her. “How did you,”

“Silencing his cell phone wasn’t hard at all. Where did you guys go?”

“To the café near where you and I first met.” You told her as you sat walked into the kitchen.

“Oh that one that Oliver poisoned you with a muffin. I love that place. Bet you can tell me my normal order.”

“Let me guess.” You said pouring yourself a drink. “Mocha?”

“Hot peppermint mocha with whipped cream.” She laughs. “You lose.”

“Alright alright.” You said sipping your drink.

“So is this life any better?” Mocha asked sitting on the counter looking at you.

    “Better?”

“Well there are no 2Ps.” She smiled. “No 2P automatically means a better life right?”

“Wait is that my lesson?” You asked looking at her as she turned her head looking at you. “That no 2Ps don’t equal a better life?”

Mocha face palmed as she shook her head. “Not exactly.”

“Then give me a hint.” You asked her as she shook her head.

“You have to figure it for yourself. The teacher can’t just give the student the answers. How would you learn?”

You groaned irritated. “You’re a lousy teacher.”

“And you’re a lousy student.” She looked at you as you sat at the kitchen table. “You really miss living with them?”

“Yeah.” You sighed. “That’s why I just want to learn your stupid lesson and get back.”

“Look I’ll be nice.” Mocha jumped of the counter and snapped her fingers as you sat there and looked around.

“What?” You didn’t see anything change. “Don’t tell me you put me in another path or wheatever.”

“Nope.” She shook her head as a knock was heard on your door. You got up and opened it see the guys standing there.

“Hey Dudette!” Alfred greeted you with a smile. “Ready?”

“Ready?” you looked at them as Alfred nodded.

    “For the Carnival!”

‘Mocha must have skipped a few days.’ You thought as you looked down seeing your outfit changed as well.

“Love are you alright?” Arthur asked as you looked back up. “We can always go another time.”

“No I’m fine.” You smiled grabbing your bag and locked your door.

You had the best night of your life. You rode rides with the guys, even the tunnel of love with Francis after he basically dragged you on it when Arthur wasn’t looking. Played games with Alfred and Matthew until your hands were sore from the guns you used.

“Want some?” Alfred offered you some cotton candy as you took a little. He held it up to Arthur as he declined it.

“That bloody stuff is pure sugar. You’ll rot your teeth out.” He sighed as Alfred put a glob of it in his mouth.

“Where do we go next?” Matthew asked looking at everyone.

“I could get us something edible.” Francis said flipping his hair. “I did pack us a picnic so we didn’t have to eat this fair food.”

“What’s wrong with the food?” Alfred asked as Arthur shook his head.

“Come on we’ll return after we eat.” Arthur said as he walked with Francis and Matthew.

“Hey, ______.” Alfred said walking up to a game where you threw a ball and knocked down the bottles. “Want me to win you a prize?” He asked handing some money to the guy.

“Alfred no one ever wins this game.” You told him as he took his first throw missing the bottles. “Alfred.” You tried to tell him he didn’t have to but you knew it was no good. He threw his second ball missing again. He took the third ball and threw it not only hitting his bottles but having the ball bounce off the back wall and hitting the other two sets of bottles set up.

“Ha I knew I could do it.” Alfred laughed as you stood there.

“Unbelievable.” You stood there as the guy handed Alfred a stuffed animal.

“What is this?” He asked looking at the odd animal.

“It’s a platypus.” You looked at it as Alfred smiled.

“Hey ______. Want to touch my platypus.” He said getting it closer to your face as you laughed. He handed it to you as you hugged it.

“I think I’m going to call him Perry.”

“He doesn’t do much.” Alfred said as he started walking where the other guys were sitting at a picnic table.

You sighed as you wached him walk away joining his brothers. A wave of sorrow washed over you as you remembered all the stuff you did while you lived with them.

“Home sick?” You turned seeing Mocha walking towards you.

“No I haven’t figured out my lesson yet.” You getting tired of her games as you hugged the stuffed animal to your chest.

“What have you figured out?” She asked as you leaned on the railing looking out into the lake.

“That if I don’t figure out your stupid lesson I won’t meet some of the people I have living with them like Kiku, Ivan, Yao, Feliciano…” You couldn’t name the rest as it hurt to think. “I’ll never see the mochis again.” You sighed as Mocha looked out into the water.

“What if I can put you back into your world but you would have to start over from the day you met Alfred? You would have to fight the 2Ps again.”

“I’d take it.” You said. “If I would end up living with them I would fight the 2Ps all over again.”

“It’ll be hard work again.” Mocha warned you without her eyes leaving the lake.

“But it would be worth it.”

“Bingo.” Mocha turned to you as you looked at her.

    “What?”

“You got it.” Mocha smiled. “Basically the lesson was that the better things in life are always worth it even if you have to work for it.” She smiled at you as you thought about it. “You want to go home?”

You looked at her as you nodded. “Very much.” You turned to follow her when you noticed the carnival. It was dark and no one was in sight. The stuffed platypus that you were holding was no longer in your arms. You walked along side Mocha as you looked around at the dark town.

“Do you remember what you were doing before I took you from your world?” Mocha asked as you looked up seeing the dark stores.

“I was with the guys and I crossed the street.” You looked at her as she pointed down. You were standing in the middle of the cross walk.

“You remember the car?” She asked as you looked up.

“Great I’ll be back in the world but you’re going to send me to the hospital?”

Mocha smiled. “I’ll be nice.” She reached up to your shoulder pushing you back on to the ground. You hit the ground hearing a car horn pass you. You opened your eyes as you were sitting in the cross walk watching the car pass.

“She pushed me out of the way?”

“______!” You looked up seeing your roommates running to you.

“Love, Are you alright?” Arthur asked kneeling in front of you.

“A-Arthur.” You looked into his emerald green eyes. “I’m really back?”

“Mon cher, back from where?” You looked at Francis as you smiled  and stood hugging them both around the neck as the two of them looked at each other and shrugged.

You had told the guys about going to the other world where the 2Ps never came on your way to the café.

“Are you sure you didn’t hit your head?” Alfred asked as you guys entered the café.

“I’m sure.” You sighed as you walked up ordering your drink. “Plus it was weird not living with you guys.” You stood aside as you waited for your drink to be called.

“Hot peppermint mocha with whipped cream!” The guy behind the counter called out. You recognized the order as you turned seeing a girl take the drink as start walking out of the café with another girl.

“It can’t be.” You shook your head as you followed her out the door.

“Poppet?” Arthur called out to you but you didn’t stop.

There was only one way to be sure. You started walking a bit faster towards the girls. “Mocha?” you asked as the girls stopped and turned to you. You saw the brown eyes that sat behind her glasses that looked back at you.

“I’ll catch up with you, Mad.” She told her friend as she continued walking. You weren’t quite sure how to talk to her. Was she really the same girl who took you to the other world or did she know nothing about what you went through. “Please don’t tell me you want to go back now.” She smiled as you did.

“No I just heard your order in the café and thought it might be you.”

“Oh by the way.” She dug through her bag and pulled out the stuffed platypus handing it to you. “Something to remember our time together.”

“Isn’t taking this from the other path breaking a rule?” You asked holding the stuffed animal.

“Rules were meant to be broken.” She smiled as she turned to walk away.

“Wait!” You called out to her as she stopped again. “I know you can’t tell me much but what am I headed for? What’s of my future?”

Mocha turned her head looking at you just enough so the street light make her eyes shine as she smiles. “That all depends on what path you take.” With that said she turned and walked away disappearing into the night.
